G.E.M. is a 17 years old new talent in hk who was born in Shanghai and grew up in hk in a family of musicians. Her mum and grandmother both have Opera singing background, her grandfather was a saxophone player. She began to compose her own music when she was just 5 years old. Since she was 10, she has joined numerous singing contests and won many awards. Among them, the most important one to her might be the joint-school "Spice-it Up" Singing Contest which she won at 14. It also won her a recording contract with a record label. After nearly two years of production, her debut album is finally OUt this month.
The wide-range voice of this young girl has surprised many people, including those music critics and radio dj, especially when they knew that she is just 17. I once heard a popular radio dj sang along with G.E.M. 's song in her program and naughtily said "how can G.E.M. sing such a high-pitch tone ?"

so surprised and HAPPY GEM could get 2008 TVB music awards "Female Newcomer Gold award" ... before i thought this award will go to TVB 's actress turned singer like Myolie Wu, Linda Chung ... 開心又驚喜，鄧紫棋竟然奪得08年無線勁歌金曲頒獎禮女新人金獎
